The Scapular

Put on this armor. You shall be invincible.

Meaning: The scapular originated from clothing worn by monks. The Brown Scapular is said to have been given by the Blessed Virgin to St. Simon Stock, with this promise:

Take, beloved son this scapular of thy order as a badge of my confraternity and for thee and all Carmelites a special sign of grace; whoever dies in this garment, will not suffer everlasting fire. It is the sign of salvation, a safeguard in dangers, a pledge of peace and of the covenant.¹

Sign yourself with the cross

You are oblivious to their presence

Meaning: To shut out the presence of ghosts or other spirits, immediately sign yourself with the cross. Also, sign yourself with the cross whenever you pray, feel tempted or feel negative.

God’s statement:

If the scapular is your armor,
the holy cross is your sword.
